Trotwood-Madison 25, Tippecanoe 7

The Trotwood-Madison Rams continued their quest to return to the state championship game as they knocked off the Tippecanoe Red Devils 25-7 in the Division III, Region 10 Finals on Friday night at Piqua High School.

Trotwood-Madison (10-2) got a complete effort and took advantage of opportunities when they presented themselves throughout the contest to prevail. The Rams only held a 311 to 290 total yards advantage, but unlike Tippecanoe (11-1) were able to finish drives.

Things were pretty nip and tuck during the first half. Cameron Johnson put the Red Devils on the scoreboard first with an 11-yard TD run in the opening quarter.

The Rams would respond with a pair of scores during the second frame. Breland Crosby started the scoring off for them with 1-yard TD run. Next it was Messiah DeWeaver finding Kendric Mallory for a 9-yard scoring strike. After missing the PAT on their first touchdown, Trotwood-Madison went for two points after their second score and failed to convert. It left things 12-7 at the half.

Defense set the tone coming out of the locker rooms for both sides as the third quarter went without any points being put on the scoreboard. The Rams would end the drought though early in the fourth quarter as Kei Beckham picked up a fumble and took 87 yards to the house to make it 18-7.

The Rams’ Marc Raye-Redmond put the nail in the coffin with a 64-yard TD scamper with less than five minutes to go in the game.

Up next Trotwood Madison will play in the Ohio DIII state semi-finals versus Clyde, who upset Toledo Central Catholic 42-21 Friday night.
