Signing Day Recap: CHL

By Mark Pinto | Multimedia Journalist

Reading senior Shane Roy signed his letter of intent on Wednesday with Pittsburgh.

National Signing Day was memorable for many football players in the Cincinnati Hills League.

Reading offensive/defensive lineman Shane Roy was awarded a scholarship from University of Pittsburgh after an outstanding senior season. Roy finished his high school career with 94 tackles, and seven sacks.

His best game came against CHCA when he recorded 12 tackles and two sacks. He will now take his game to the next level and compete against the likes of defending National Champion Florida State, Clemson and University of Miami.

On Wednesday, Roy shared the spotlight at Reading with fellow teammate Chad Pinson. The defensive back will attend West Virginia Wesleyan.

Butler University was able to sign two players from the league, including Indian Hills defensive back Mack Carrier and Wyoming quarterback Will Marty.

Wyoming defensive end Griffin O’Gara and his teammate Jalen Fox both decided to stay in-state. O’Gara chose to sign with Dayton and Fox is attending Ohio University.

Mariemont offensive lineman Jon Bezney is taking his talents to the Ivy League. Bezney will participate in one of the oldest rivalries in college football history when his Yale Bulldogs play against the Harvard Crimson.
