Trotwood-Madison 34, Wapakoneta 28, 4 OT

To say that Trotwood-Madsion played like a cat who exhausted all nine of its lives would be an understatement. The Rams survived miscues and missed opportunities as they narrowly escaped with a thrilling four overtime victory over previously unbeaten Wapakoneta. Despite living on the edge Trotwood-Madison won its fifth consecutive Regional title.

Junior quarterback Messiah DeWeaver came up big when the Rams needed him most. DeWeaver threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more during extra play including the game winner in the fourth overtime session. He finished the night with 106 yards through the air and 67 on the ground.

Moving the ball wasn’t a problem for Trotwood-Madison who gained 447 yards on the night. The Rams ran the ball for 341 yards as senior Breland Cospy had a game-high 117 yards rushing. It was his second straight game with 100 yards or more on the ground.

Up next for Trotwood-Madison is Toledo Central Catholic (11-2) in a state semi-final matchup at a location to be determined on Sunday by the OHSAA. The Rams lost the state title game to TCC in 2012, 16-12. The Rams seniors were sophomores on that squad. They will have plenty of motivation to avenge that loss.
